An interpretation of the Greek myth "Orpheus and Eurydice": Orpheus and Eurydice get hitched, but then she dies after stepping on a venomous snake. Orpheus descends into the Underworld, and convinces Hades to set his blushing bride free after serenading him with his lyre. The catch is that Orpheus cannot turn around to see Eurydice as he is leading her out to the Land of the Living. They almost make it, but then his doubt gets the best of him. He turns around, only to see her sliding back to join the other dead for the rest of time.
